Response 1 Oceans are vital to the world and economy. They regulate our climate, produce food, and support businesses. Oceans control Earth's climate. The ocean distributes heat from the atmosphere, stabilizing global temperatures. It absorbs carbon dioxide, reducing global warming and protecting the ozone layer. Hence, the sea sustains life. Oceans give food and a steady climate. Ocean vegetation and fauna feed millions of people worldwide. Aquaculture has become essential to the world food chain as fish, shellfish, seaweed, and other marine life are gathered daily. Seaweed and other aquatic plants are collected for fertilizers and food additives.
