Midterm Paper
Question: Midterm Paper Instructions Version 7 Personality Psychology (PSY 310 OL) Your midterm assignment will be to write a paper. In this paper you will apply what you have learned about personality from the textbook to a case study. What to Include in Your Paper A case study is a detailed description of the personal history and characteristics of an individual. For this paper, you will find a case study to use for your paper. Your case study subject person could be a real person (for example, a celebrity or a historical figure) or a fictitious character (like from a movie or a book), but it must be something that is publicly available (i.e. not something you made up). When you turn in your paper, you should also provide a biography of your case study subject person in an appropriate format (e.g. a link to a website, or an attached file) Describe the Personality of your Case Study (SLO 1) In your paper, you should summarize and describe your case study subject person. First, define what personality is, and explain how we can use observable behaviors to “see” your case study person’s personality (as in Chapter 1, pp. 10-13). Then, you should describe all of the relevant parts of the person’s story, including important life events (biography) and behavioral tendencies (personality traits), which you will cite or draw on when you discuss their personality later in your paper.
Abstract The case study uses the modern theories of personality to examine the unique psychology of Michael Jackson. This paper explains the behaviors and life path of Jackson in the framework of the Big Five and the If- Then Personality signatures, biological models, and a combination of genetic and environmental factors, using the theoretical background of Personality Psychology: Understanding Yourself and Others by Twenge & Campbell (2020). The results indicate that Jackson had exceptionally high Openness and domain-specific Conscientiousness, a multifaceted combination of Extraversion and social withdrawal, a variable Agreeableness, and high Neuroticism. The paper will show how combining trait models, situational contingencies, and biological foundations can be useful in gaining insight into one of the most mysterious social phenomena of the modern day. Introduction Personality means a consistent behavior, thought, and emotion of an individual over a period of time and circumstances (Twenge & Campbell, 2020). Personalities can only be comprehended through enduring characteristics and variability in relation to situations. This paper is an analytical discussion of the personality of Michael Jackson based on empirical and theoretical models of personality psychology. The abundance of biological, environmental, and cognitive factors influencing personality that can be studied based on Jackson and his incredible creative potential, perfectionism, and sensitivity to emotions is abundant.
